My review

I read the Yellow Book with Ciro's Projeto Nacional still fresh in my mind, and the comparison was inevitable. The two are not identical and diverge on several positions, but I was surprised by how close they are in their diagnosis.

What I enjoyed most were the government ideas focused on industrialisation and economic development. It is material that thinks of the country as a project, with priorities, and not as a sum of loose agendas. That kind of reading grabs me, because it is how I think about systems: first the structural problem, then the solution.

The difference is in the path. Ciro leans more to the left, with a bigger role for the State. The Yellow Book goes the liberal way, with more trust in the market and in competition. And I, honestly, see myself somewhere between the two. I agree with the emphasis on competition and on getting the State out of where it gets in the way, but I also think industrial development doesn't happen by itself, without a strategy.

I recommend it to anyone who likes to discuss a project for the country with a concrete proposal on the table, whether you agree or not. Reading it alongside Projeto Nacional makes for a good conversation.
